Pulses, generally, are low in oil, whereas oilseeds contain between 18-50% oil, with sunflower seeds ranking the highest. The oils in grain are unsaturated, the main fatty acids being linoleic and oleic. Maize, oats and oil-bearing seeds are a good source of essential fatty acids for animals.
