* Quantam numbers:-To determine the position and energy of an electron in the atom some numbers are required these numbers are called Quantum numbers.

There are four Quantum numbers,namely:-

*Principal quantum number.

*Azmithal quantam number. *Magnetic quantam number. *Spin quantam number.

Principal quantam number:-

I)Principal quantam number was introduced by Neil's Bohr.

ii)Principal quantam number is denoted by 'n'.

iii)The values of "n" are 1,2,3,4,5,_ _ _ _ and

also named as K,L,M,N,O,_ _ _ _ .

iv)It signifies the size of the orbit and also main energy level of an electron.

Note:-The value of "n" increases the energy level of the electron in that orbit also increases.

Answer:

The principal quantum number, n, describes the energy of an electron and the most probable distance of the electron from the nucleus. In other words, it refers to the size of the orbital and the energy level an electron is placed in. The number of subshells, or l, describes the shape of the orbital.
