These are the index numbers which completely specify the information about an electron in an atom. i.e.,average distance from nucleus,energy of an electron,orientation of an electron,spin of an electron etc. There are four quantum nos
1 Principle quantum no.(n)
2 Azimuthal or angular momentum quantum no.(l)
3 Magnetic quantum no.(m)
4 Spin quantum no(s)
The first three quantum nos n,l&m came directly from the solution of Schrodingers wave equation on H _atom.The fourth quantum no.was experimentally determined & was also obtained from advanced quantum mechanics.
Hope it helps u

quantum numbers are the set of 4 numbers which gives a complete information about the electron in an atom (energy, shape, orientation, and spin)
1.principal quantum number:- (n)
->it represents the main she'll to which the electrons belongs to
->it also represents the size of the orbit and energy of the electrons.
->the values of 'n' ranges from 1to infinity for example:-k she'll has n=1 ,L she'll has2 n=2,Mshell n=3,Nshell n=4
->it helps to calculate maximum number of electrons possible in every she'll using formula 2n².
2. Azimuthal quantum number:-(L)
->it indicates to which subshell the electrons belongs to.
->the value of L depends on principle quantum number for a given value of 'N' value of 'L' (L should be in small letter) ranges b/w
0 to n-1
->example if n=1 then L=n-1 means L=0 for
's' subshell
if n=2 then L=1 this is for 'P'subshell
if n=3 then L=2 this is for 'D'subshell
if n=4 then L=3this is for 'f'subshell
->it also helps to calculate the angular momentum of an electron=
then,
3.magnetic quantum number and 4.spin quantum number and with this plz understand one question with answer I had sended in that photo plz check it...
