A Question tag is a short question either positive or negative, added to a statement in order to get confirmed.

Example :- She is a beautiful girl, isn't she?

\huge\underline\mathfrak{Question\:Tags:}

Question tags are those questions which are attached (added) to the end of a statement. They are meant to ask the opinion of the person whom they are attached.

However, they take this agreement for granted. They are used only in conversation and in letters between friends.

\underline\mathfrak{The\:Use\:of\:Question\:Tags:}

• A positive statement takes a negative tag and a negative statement takes a positive tag.

• When a sentence has a negative subject, object or complement, it is regarded as a negative statement. It needs a positive tag.

• Words like little, few , hardly , rarely, seldom , etc. are regarded as negatives. They take a positive tag.

• When a personal pronoun is the subject of a sentence, they are repeated as the tags of the question.

• If the verb is in the form of 'to be' or 'to have' , the tense of the verb is also used in the tag.

• If the auxiliary has a compound form, only the first word of the auxiliary is repeated in the tag.
