The Chlorophyceae are one of the classes of green algae that are distinguished mainly on the basis of ultrastructural morphology. They do not have differentiated root, stem and leaves. Hence the plant body is called as thalloid in nature.
They undergo asexual and sexual reproduction.
Asexual reproduction takes place by flagellated zoospores.
Vegetative reproduction is by Fragmentation.
Sexual reproduction is by the formation of sex cells. It may be isogamous, anisogamous or oogamus.
