Substances which take part in a chemical reaction are called reactants. These are on left hand side of the chemical equation...
For Example - Burning of magnesium in air to form magnesium oxide..
     Magnesium + Oxygen   ⇒  magnesium oxide
Here, magnesium and oxygen are two reactants

Reactants are those compounds or metals or elements which take part in chemical reaction and are present or is written in the left side of a chemical equation.
