Set Squares are used for several purposes. It totally depends what your requirement is. For example, they can be used for Geometry if you are a geometry fan. But this is just basics.
Else, there is a subject, popularly known as Technical Drawing, wherein you need to draw or picturize certain objects, either from direct or indirect view. Analysing an object from several views and drawing it on paper requires the use of set squares to draw parallel lines of symmetry, angles of inclination, viewing angles etc.
There are two basic set squares- one with 30°,60°,90° internal angles and the other with 45°,45°,90° internal angles. The former is used to draw the isometric views of any object while the latter is used to draw the orthographic views of any object.while projecting the views of any object reference from several angles, set squares would serve the best in measuring every unit of the drawing accurately.
