What are reasons for civil war in sri lanka in detail?

for my information there is a terrorist group called as libaration tigers of tamil ellalam(ltte) the do not have citizenship of shri lanka thats why they fight for their right...they belongs to india but went there for working in tea forests....!

Because the government followed a policy of Majoritarianism .
Under that policy the government promotes Buddhism .
An act was passed to recognize sinhala as the official language.
University positions and government jobs favoured Sinhala participants.
All this created feeling of alienation among Tamils and the civil war started.
