Red Muscle:

  • These are having myoglobin.
  • These are having more number of mitochondria.
  • These contract for longer time.
  • These are reddish due to oxymyoglobin.
  • Example - Back muscles

White Muscle:

  • These don't have myoglobin.
  • These are having less number of mitochondria.
  • These contract for shorter time.
  • These are whitish.
  • Example - Eye lid muscles
