Reducing agent is an element which in a reaction undergoes oxidation and oxidizing agent is an element which in a reaction undergoes reduction........
If the oxidation number or oxidation state of an element is increased on the product side then oxidation takes place........ and if oxidation number of an element is reduced on rhs then it is said to be reduced......
Hope this helps you....... ^_^
