What are Relative Clauses?

=> Relative Clauses are the clauses in which the relative pronouns and relative adverbs such as who, which, when, where, that etc are used, generally at the starting of the sentences.

The relative clauses are used in such a way by which we give the information about any noun in the sentence using the appropriate relative pronouns and adverbs.

_______________

Examples of Relative Clauses -

1. My sister has composed a song, I like it.

Answer - Here, the appropriate pronoun which can be used is => Which

Thus the correct answer will be,

I liked the song \bf{Which} is composed by my sister.

2. He is a Doctor, He treats eye diseases.

The answer of this will be => He is a Doctor \bf{Who} treats eye diseases.

3. Taj Mahal is a beautiful place, We are visiting it next week.

Now here since the noun is about a place, we generally use " Where"

Answer -

Taj Mahal \bf{where} we are visiting next week, is a Beautiful Place.

Note: Relative clauses are used when the sentence contains extra information.

Also in Relative clauses "comma" is used, thus it can be easier to identify the relative clause sentences by seeing the punctuation mark ie comma in the middle of the sentence.
