IT IS NECESSARY BCOZ :-

⚫ The Constitution makers were concerned that in an open electoral competition, certain weaker sections may not get elected to the Lok Sabha and the state Legislative Assemblies.

⚫ They may not have the required resources, education and contacts to contest and win elections against others.

⚫ If that happens, our Parliament and Assemblies would be denied of the voice of an important section of our population making our democracy less representative and less democratic.

⚫ Those who are powerful and capable may stop them from winning elections.

⚫Hence the makers of our Constitution thought of a special system of reserved constituencies for the weaker sections.

The constituencies in which only the people of particular religion such as SC,ST etc. are egligible to fight an election are called reserved constituencied. These are reserved to improve the condition of these people of lower cast in politics.
