During colonial times in India forests in India was divided into 2 types : -
Reserved Forests - No Pastoralist could enter these forests legally. Due to it their pasture land was reduced.
Protected forests - Pastoralists could only enter these forests of they had a special pass. If they exceeded the time limit of the pass they were additionally charged for it.
Village Forests - These are the forest which are protected by the villagers of India. They main a friendly relationship with them.
