ribosomes are the only organelle which lack a membrane. they are located either in the cytoplasm or attached to the surface of rough endoplasmic reticulum. their function is to synthesize protein for the cell.

Ribosomes are the particles present in the surface of the RER. The ribosomes helps in protein synthesis in the cells for repairing damage and directing the chemical processes. It can be found floating within the cytoplasm and attached to the surface of the Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum (RER).
