Rights are reasonable claims that are recognized by the society and sanctioned by law.
they are need in a democracy because....
1. To protect minority from oppression of majority
2. to provide the ppl with rights that are about the govt. and hence can't be taken away by them.
3. Right to vote, freedom of expression and political equality are very much necessary for the working of democracy.

Rights are claims of a person over other fellow beings, the society and the government.

(1) Rights are necessary for the very sustenance of a democracy.

(2) In a democracy, every citizen has to have the right to vote and the right to be elected to the government.

(3) For democratic elections, ot os necessary that citizens should have the right to express their opinion, form political parties and take part in political activities.

(4) Rights protect the minorities from the oppression of the majority.

(5) Rights are guarantee which can be used when things go wrong. Things may go wrong when some citizens may wish to take away the Rights of others.
