It begins to the south of the Tapti River in Gujarat- Maharashtra border and covers the sates of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Maharashtra, Kerala and stretches to the southernmost tip of the Indian Peninsula for about 1600 km. This range is known as the Sahyadri mountains in Maharashtra and Karnataka, Nilagiri malai in Tamilnadu, and Sahya Parvatam in Kerala.
