Sand dunes are the deposite of sand in some areas of desert which take the form of hills in due course of time.

Sand dunes are formed by the wind depositional activities of sand particles in a particular area carried from different place by eroding. The deposition of sand particles layer after layer gives the shape of hills in due cource of time . Some sand dunes are formed longitudinally along the direction of wind. These are called longitudinal sand dunes. Again some are formed being transverse to the wind direction. Such sand dunes are called transverse sand dunes.
