Schuffner’s dots are a hematological finding associated with malaria which mainly occurs in Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium ovale. For example, in Plasmodium vivax, the morphologic changes in the infected host RBC are visible when observed through light microscopy. These morphological alterations are referred as Schuffner's dots and they have importance in identifying the species of the malarial parasite under experiment.
