$<b >$ Answer :- A scum is basically a substance that is insoluble in water mainly formed due to the reaction of magnesium and calcium salts of carboxylic acids with the sodium and potaasium salts of carboxylic acids. when this reaction occurs ,an insolube white precipitate is formed which is commonly called as scum. If you want the reaction then it is as follows:

C17 H35 COOH NA + Mg---------->( C17 H35 COOH)2Mg + NA

C17 H35 COOH NA + CA ----------> (C17 H35 COOH)2CA +NA
