Answer:

Explanation:Sedimentary rocks are formed on or near the Earth’s surface, in contrast to metamorphic and igneous rocks, which are formed deep within the Earth. The most important geological processes that lead to the creation of sedimentary rocks are erosion, weathering, dissolution, precipitation, and lithification.

Erosion and weathering include the effects of wind and rain, which slowly break down large rocks into smaller ones. Erosion and weathering transform boulders and even mountains into sediments, such as sand or mud. Dissolution is a form of weathering—chemical weathering. With this process, water that is slightly acidic slowly wears away stone. These three processes create the raw materials for new, sedimentary rocks.

Sedimentary rocks are rocks formed by layers and layers of sediments! (sediments can be: sand, plants, rocks, animal bones or parts....) To further understand it, look at it this way:

You are making some chocolate chip cookies. And the flour, eggs, milk, chocolate chips, and butter are the sediments!

The formation of a sedimentary rock:

1, sediments are DEPOSED into the air~ ( they happen because of weathering or erosion!)

2, They get carried into the water and goes down to the bottem of the river/ocean.

3, it forms a layer!

4, The layer will slowly harden

5, This process repeats after thousands of years and POOF! A rock forms because of all the hard layers! (by that time, the river should have dried up already! It surely take A LOT of time!)

Examples of sedimentary rocks!

-Sandstone

-Limestone

-Gale

Hope this helps!
