shortcuts are quick access to frequently used programs.following are the steps to create a shortcut-
select the file for which you want to create the shortcut.
a drop down menu will occur.
select send to option
click on desktop(create shortcut)option .the desired file will be saved on your desktop as shortcut,where you can quickly access it.

• Shortcuts are type of icons ( Graphical user interface) of a particular application that opens the application if clicked with the mouse. It's not the real application though, just a replica of it that is dependent on the application and its place of existence in any drive or folder where the place of that application is determined.

• To add a shortcut on the desktop, select any application or folder from any drive with the right click. Then select "Send to desktop ( Create Shortcut) " from the dialog box.
You'll see an icon of that app or file had been added to the desktop.
