Significance of pollination:

1.  Pollination is a pre-requisite for fertilization in flowering plants.

2.  For fertilization and zygote formation to take place,pollination is an important process as it brings the two types of gametes closer to fertilization.

3.  Pollination helps in the production of seeds and fruits,which ensure continuity of the plant species. Also these seeds and fruits are a source of nutrition to several animals,including humans.

4.  Cross pollination produces offsprings with combination of characters from two types of varieties or races. Seeds become more viable and more tolerant and adaptability of new plants increases.

5.  Pollination helps in gene recombination.

6.  In cross pollination, as combination of new character occurs,so,new varieties may be originated.

7.  Premature abscission of ovary is prevented.

Pollination is a very important part of the life cycle of plants. Insects, birds, bats and the wind take pollen between flowering plants, which means the plants can make seeds and reproduce

The significant of pollination is that transfer of pollen grains from anther to stigma for the process of fertilization
