Sponge is aquatic, sessile animal, included in phylum Porifera, with diploblastic cellular grade body.
The porous body encloses a hollow spongocoel , which is the watery environment similar to exterior.
Water enters in the spongocoel through innumerable small ostia present in the body while water leaves through larger osculum.
There are several types of cells in the body of sponge, most important are ectodermal pinacocytes and endodermal choanocytes.
Flagella of choanocyte help in producing water current around the body, which helps in bringing food and exchange of gases.
