A ceremonial capital was created as Sikri (near Agra), which was later named Fatehpur Sikri. All the buildings were made of red sandstone. The place had several beautiful monuments like Buland Darwaza, Panch Mahal, Jodha Bai's Palace and Salim Chisti's tomb.
