Canadian poetries are basically written in English and French.

In the 20th century, Anglo-Canadian poets are influenced by the European and American Poetic innovations and they have invented some new arena of poetry such as modernism, postmodernism, new formalism and confessional poetry.

During this time, Songs of a Sourdough written by Robert W. Service received much popularity and more than three million of this book was sold out within few days.

Afterward, many other poets like, Marjorie Pickhall, E.J,Pratt, Ralph Gustafson and Raymond Knister was started writing some traditional poetries.
