SPANDEX :-

  • It is first elastic fiber.
  • It is a synthetic fiber
  • Spandex produced by Du-Pont is known as Lycra and also known as elastane.

  • Have very huge elastic properties that’s why used for making body fit apparels, action suits, some sports wears and this property only makes it suitable for making clothes which require a body hugging fit like swimming costumes..

  • Also added with other fibers like cotton, nylon, rayon or wool to give elastic property to the fabric.

  • Used to produce swimwear, stretchable jeans, support hose, slip covers, gloves etc.

  • As a synthetic fibers it dries quickly and absorbs less water

  • It is wrinkle resistant
  • It is easy to wash
  • It has lustrous appearance
