Special economic zones are set up to attract MNC’s to invest in the country. It’s features are as follows:

1. This region has world class facilities, of electricity, education, health, infrastructure etc.

2. The companies which set up their offices in these SEZ’s they don’t need to pay any taxes for the initial period of 5 years.

3. The government gives them flexibility in labour laws and allows them to not abide by some of them. Thus most MNC’s hire workers on a flexible basis, but not permanently.
