Answer:
Star is the sky object that can produce its own light.
Explanation:
The sun is also a star, because it can make its own light. We can only see the stars at night because during the day the Sun's light is brighter.
Why do stars look small?
Stars look small because they are located very far from Earth. The closest star to Earth is the Sun. Thus, the Sun looks bigger.
Several stars seem close to each other looking from the Earth. If they are connected, they will form a composition called constellation.
Some constellations are used to show cardinal directions and time sigh. It is because, since past time, people had noticed that the stars always appeared at the same time and condition in the night sky. Besides, there was no compass or other sign to show direction at the same time.
Here are several constellations used to show the cardinal direction.
a. Crux is used to show the south direction. It consists of four stars forming kite shape. It is also called "The Southern Cross".
b. Ursa Major or the Great Bear is used to show the north direction. It consist of seven stars. Thus, it is also known as "The Seven Stars".
c. The Scorpius is a gathering of stars forming a scorpion shape. It is located in the north east.
d. Orion or "The Hunter" lies from the west to the east. When the Orion is rising in the east, it is a sign for farmers to start ploughing their field.
On certain times, the star constellation will clearly appear in the sky. During January, Orion Constellation will look clear at 21:00, it lies from the west to the east. During June, the Ursa Major Constellation will look clear at 21:00, on the north sky. During May, the Crux Constellation will look clear at 21:00, on the south sky.
