What are stationary waves? Explain the formation of these waves by applying super
position principle to the wave functions of incident and reflected waves in case of
string fixed at both ends. What are nodes and antinodes? State any two properties of
stationary waves.

A standing wave is a vibration of a system where some points remain fixed, while others vibrate with the maximum amplitude. It happens because of the twowaves interfering with each other in a way that follows the superposition principle.
