Answer:

Plants 'breathe' too, but they do it through tiny openings in leaves called stomata (singular: stoma). Stomata open and close to allow the intake of carbon dioxide and the release of oxygen.

Answer:

Stomata are tiny pores present on the the surface of the leaves, mainly on the lower epidermise. Exchange of gases for the purpose of photosynthesis. Transpiration also occurs in the stomata. The pores close when they do not need carbon dioxide for photosynthesis to prevent excessive loss of water. The opening and closing of pores is regulated by gaurd cells. The gaurd cells swell when water flows into them, causing the stomatal pore to open. Similarly, the pore closes if the gaurd cells shrink.
