Stomata are tiny pores or tiny openings present in the leaves of a plant which are very helpful in the process of photosynthesis for a plant.

These pores are guarded by guard cells around them which regulate their opening and closing. The guard cells are of kidney Bean shaped which swell up and closes the stomatal openings and when they shrink they let the stomatal pores open.

Functions:

1) in the process of photosynthesis stomatal pores are helpful in intake of carbon dioxide and release of oxygen in the atmosphere.

2) these also help the plant to regulate the amount of water loss.
