A subjective complement can also be called a subject complement. A subjective complement is defined as a word or group of words that comes after a linking verb and describes the subject or renames it.
In easy word we can say a complement (good or bad) given to the subject of the sentence.
For example: John is happy.
Here, John- subject
is- verb
happy- subjective complement
The word ‘happy’ in the sentence above is a complement/subjective complement because it is performing the function of complement given to the subject.
