Sundarbans is the name given to the large Delta that are formed where the river basins of Ganges(Ganga) and Bramhaputra meet.

They are called so because there are many Sundari trees found in that region.

Sundarban is the large Delta which is formed where the river Ganga and Brahmaputra meet.

Sundarbans are famous as there is an abundance of Sundari trees in this region. This area is surrounded by dense forest of mangrove and Royal Bengal is the largest protected area of Tiger. Recent studies have shown that the number of tigers in this National Park is 103.

In this region there are many species of birds, reptiles and invert brushes are also found. Along with these, saltwater crocodiles are also found in this area. The landfall of “Cyclone Sidr” was "damaged around 40%" of the Sundarbans in 2007.
