Hey!!!

The movement of the plates results in the formation of folds and volcanic activities. The earth crust is made of seven major plates. These plates are called tectonic plates.

These plates are classified into three types:
☙ Divergent boundary
☙ Convergent boundary
☙ Transform boundary

Some plates come towards eachother and form convergent boundary.
Some of the plates move away and form divergent boundary.
Sometimes the plates coming together may colloide and crumble. They form the transform boundary.

A tectonic plate (also called lithospheric plate) is a massive, irregularly shaped slab of solid rock, generally composed of both continental and oceanic lithosphere. Plate size can vary greatly, from a few hundred to thousands of kilometers across; the Pacific and Antarctic Plates are among the largest. Plate thickness also varies greatly, ranging from less than 15 km for young oceanic lithosphere to about 200 km or more for ancient continental lithosphere (for example, the interior parts of North and South America).

types of tectonic plates are :-
 1. Divergent - Divergent boundaries are when plates are moving away from each other.
2. Convergent - This occurs when two plates are moving toward each other. If the two plates are moving to each other with equal density, they push up against each other. If they don't have equal density, one plate goes down and the other plate goes up.
3. Transform - Occurring mostly on the sea floor, transform boundaries are plates that slide sideways past each other.
