Reasons for late discovery of noble gases:

1) They are incapable of reacting with other elements. Being inert, they are not present in combined form with other elements.
2) They are minor components of air, that is, present in only trace amount

The nobles gases are the elements located on the very right of the periodic table. The elements are Helium, Neon, Argon, Krypton, Xenon and Radon. The common thing with the noble gases is that they have full outer shells, and don't react with any elements.

Noble gases were discovered later than other elements , simply because they were extremely unreactive . Being intert they were difficult to isolate via chemical reactions.
