The earth has 3 layers. They are :

  • Crust
  • Mantle
  • Core

Earth is the third nearest planet to the sun. It is 5th largest planet in size. The shape of the earth is described as Geoid. Earth is either too hot nor too cold, Earth has some life supporting gases like Oxygen. Because of these reasons Earth is called as Unique planet.

  • Crust

The uppermost layer of earth is known as the Crust. It is the thinnest layer of all. It is about 35 kms on the the ocean floor. The main mineral which constitutes the crust are Silica and Alumina. The crust only forms 1 percent of the volume of the Earth.

  • Mantle

The second and beneath the crust is the Mantle. It is about 2900 kms. The Mantle forms 84 percent of the Earth.

  • Core

The innermost layer is the core with radius of above 3500 kms. It is mainly made up of nickel and iron and is called nife. The core has a very high temperature.
