The five teaching of bhakti saints are:
God do not resides in temple,He resides in the heart of the peoples.
To come close to god one requires a pure body and soul which can be possessed by considering a person as 'guru'.
God is one.But we think there are many gods because people give different names to God.
Every house where Praises of God are recited is a temple.
All human beings have a connection with the supreme God .Thus,all are equal.

- Selfless love and devotion are the means to come close to god. purity of heart and mind is important. closeness to god cannot be found through ceremonies, rituals and sacrifices or by giving up the world.
- All human beings are equal. God did not create high or low caste people. Not did he create Hindus and muslims. So people should be tolerant of one another.
