he became ruler of Mysore in 1761. he won many battles against the Marathas,the Nizams of Hyderabad. he was able to rout his adversaries in two consecutive anglo-Mysore war. in the first anglo-Mysore war he won over the marathas and nizams forced the british to sign a peace treaty.
