he is an extraordinary prime minister of India and he is best known for his freedom fighter spirits.
Mr. Nehru greatest achievement was giving it a decade of stable government to a nascent nation which was going through a period of turmoil, partition crippling the social life, religious hatred finding roots in indian society and demands for independent nation like khalistan and tamil Elam. This was the very reason Gandhi chose Nehru over Patel, who's health was failing and death took it's toll even before the first general elections in India. PM's death at that juncture would have given strength to these fringe elements as we see after the untimely death Shastriji , another nehruvian.
Another achievement of Mr. Nehru was taking India steadily on the path of economic development. Some may disagree with line chosen by him I.e. Socialism. But if we go back in time and evaluate this we can easily find that the benchmark he chose was indeed a right choice. As USSR was the fastest growing economy back then and India had also seen the black side of capitalism. So he chose the middle path of mixed economy I.e. he tried to implement socialism without impairing the then current capitalists.
