The stock of grains which is kept for sudden use for eg. a famine struckes or a earthquake comes and all grains or eating stuff gets damaged then this extra stored stock is used, is called buffer stock.
It is mainly stored in very large containers also called grain silos.

Buffer stock is a food security system in our Country. It is the stock of food grains filled by FCI ( Food Corporation Of India). This stock`s food grain is send the poorer strata of society by PDS ( Public Distribution System).
