Black soil:

Advantages:

1. Agro-friendly contents make them fertile.

2. These soils are highly moisture-retentive, thus responding well to irrigation.

3. These are enriched with calcium carbonate, magnesium, potash and lime which are all nutrients.

4. The iron-rich granular structure makes them resistant to wind and water.

Disadvantages:

1. When they dry cracks and when wet it swells, makes them difficult to manage, unless they are cultivated at appropriate soil moisture levels

2. These cracks may sometimes extent to severe limit like ½” wide and 12” deep. So buildings made on this soil may suffer severe damage
