Corrosion is a natural process which converts a refined metal to a more chemically - stable form, like as oxide, sulfide, hydroxide. It is the gradual destruction of materials by chemical and/ or electrochemical reaction with environment.

It's disadvantages are following ;

1. It reduces the strength of its structure

2.It makes it likely collapse

3. It reduces the beauty and attractiveness 4.pure form of metals is lost

It's advantages are following ;

1 . It acts as barrier for air and moisture

2.It prevents inner layer of metals from corrosion

3 . this is the principle behind "anodizing" steel to guard against rust.

disadvantage of corrosion include loss contamination and deterioration of the apprence of a material.you also get safety health and environmental risks when corrosion occurs, you need to spend more money to avoid corrosion for machines and to maintain it etc.
advantages of corrosion
1. Protection : Surface corrosion forms an oxide layer which further protects the inner metal form corrosion.
2. Corrosion prevents corrosion : Some metals like zinc are used as sacrificial anodes to prevent corrosion to other metal.
