The advantages of cross-pollination are that it is introducing genetic diversity to the plant, which keeps it resistant to disease. Plants such as willows and vallisneria, have to be cross-pollinated because the male and female flowers are not on the same plants.
The disadvantages of cross pollination are that it may fail due to distance barrier.Flowers have to totally depend on the external agencies for pollination and there is more wastage of pollen.
