⏪DISADVANTAGES OF DAMS :

➡Regulation of dams causes poor sedimentation and excessive sedimentation at the bottom resulting in rockier beds and poor habitat for aquatic life .

➡Building of dams prevent aquatic fauna to migrate , especially for spawning .

➡Building dams submerge the existing vegetation. Leading to there decomposition over a period of time .

➡Dams cause a large scale displacement of local people . This has given rise to many movements like the Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA)

➡It has resulted in Inter state water disparities.

* water of dams are used in water needed areas.
*Dams are used for irrigation purpose.
*Dams are used as flood control.
DIS - ADVANTAGES OF DAM are as follows:-
*Dams are very expensive and cannt be built anywhere .it needed a large area for built.
*The flooding of large areas of land means destroy of environment.
*Building of large dams alerts the water level..
*When we change the direction of flow of river the life of aquatic animals gets disturbed...
