What are the advantages and disadvantages of relying on Rig Veda as historical evidence?

• Can tell the exact or, possible timeperiod of a particular historical event.
• Can tell about any particular historical event or, at least can provide any hint.
• Very important to know about the culture, language, literature skill, ideologies etc of that particular period in history, when the certain text was written down. -

ᴅɪsᴀᴅᴠᴀɴᴛᴀɢᴇs-

• May be partially biased or not; so to be careful when relating to the evidence of any possible historical event.
• May be some type of Metaphor or, Satire. So, all characters and the events should be very carefully noted and judged.
• May contain mistakes/false things; as ancient literary texts often face such errors, which may have silently crawled into it through the passing of a very long time. -etc.
