The advantage of water pollinated flowers are that they are covered by a mucilaginous layer of gelatin which prevents the pollen from being wet.

On the other hand water pollination has many uncertainties becos the pollen reaching the stigma is always a chance factor and there would also be associated loss of pollen grains
