Windows has few security problems and frequent updates but has maximum software support and is easy to use.
Mac is too costly but has got features and performance.
Linux is suitable for mostly developers, because you need to know Unix in order to properly work with Linux.

Explanation:

Mac OSX is designed for ease of use with access to Apple’s ecosystem - easy integration with iphone/ipad/apple tv, along with some attempt to confine you the software and content from itunes and the app store. It is only available for the few models of desktop and laptop hardware sold by Apple.

Windows puts backwards compatibility first, something very important to business use, although their latest offering, Windows 10, does a very good job of integrating touch screen access and working across desktop, laptop, tablets, and the newer devices that can work in either laptop or tablet mode. It works across hardware from different vendors and has the largest base of available software.

Linux is free, an important feature if you have thousands of servers. It works across a large variety of hardware including different types of processors than traditional PCs, some of which are very inexpensive. A wild variety of different distributions and desktop environments exist to choose from, along with applications to do most needed operations. However, these may not be as well tested and documented as well as the commercial equivalents and are continuously being developed and changed. The source code is available, so if you enjoy participating in this kind of development and customization, Linux might be your first choice.
