When connected in a parallel it offers the following advantages over series :
> It is possible to use different appliances at different times.
Eg: If the fan , light and TV were connected in a series , and you are using all of them. If you wish to turn off the fan then all the appliances must be switched off which is not the case if they are connected in a parallel.
> it is possible to use various devices of different current requirement.
Eg: In a series it is not possible to use a fan and a computer as the computer would require more current than the fan , but in a series we only get a constant current to all appliances which is not the case in parallel. But there is an advantage of series connection.
> a series requires much lesser wire than in any ordinary parallel connection.
But it is clearly seen that the advantages of a parallel outdo those of a series .So it is better to connect electrical devices in parallel.

In series combination ,if any of the components fail to work, the circuit will break and then none of the component will work and in parallel circuit it devides the current among the components ,so that they can have necessary amount of current to operate properly.
