There is no division of voltage among the appliances when connected in parallel. The potential difference across each appliance is equal to the supplied voltage. The total effective resistance of the circuit can be reduced by connecting electrical appliances in parallel.

The advantsges of connecting electrical devices in parallel with the batter instead of connecting them in series are entioned below.

1) Devices that require different potential differences can be connected in parallel where as in series connection that is not possible.

2) In parallel connection resistance of the wire will be comparatively lesser .

3)Even if one of the devices in parallel connection is damaged the flow of electric current through the circuit won't be affected where as in series if one of the devices shuts down the whole of the circuit gets affected
