No, it’s actually because then each of the loads connected get equal amount of current. This has nothing to do with power
if in series the amount of resistance will be extremely high resulting in unequal distribution of current through all the loads

Firstly there is nothing known as more direct line and secondly power had nothing to do with it. The lesser the power consumed by a load the better, so why would people opt for an arrangement with more power consumption?
